Staff Accountant

Bear Valley is looking for a person with the skills and personality to join our finance department as a Staff Accountant. The scope of the Staff Accountant’s role is to ensure the accuracy and reliability of all accounts payable, accounts receivable and certain other general accounting records including the corresponding balance sheet accounts for Dundee Bear Management, LLC and affiliated companies. The successful candidate must be ready to assume increasing responsibilities quickly as advancement opportunities are expected as the company grows. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years relevant accounting experience, a 4-year Business or Accounting degree preferred, strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff, excellent interpersonal, customer service skills. Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years relevant accounting experience required
  • 4-year Business or Accounting degree preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, documentation and process and ability to prioritize.
  • High level of integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential information / matters.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as a capacity to work independently with minimal direct supervision in regards to routine processes
  • Strong computer skills including spreadsheets, payroll systems
  • Ability to perform fundamental analysis of financial information
  • Logical thought processes and problem solving skills with ability to identify potential problematic issues, communicate these issues to supervisor and propose potential solutions and course of action

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform all Accounts Payable functions including account reconciliation and disbursement
  • Perform all Accounts Receivable functions including account reconciliation, invoicing and collection
  • Support the Accounting Supervisor with other general accounting activities as defined. 
  • Maintain all accounting aspects of the off site ticketing programs including corporate charges, account reconciliation, timely invoicing collections, and deferred revenue spreadsheets
  • Perform reconciliations of non-payroll bank statements in a timely manner
  • Prepare and enter journal entries into ERP system (i.e. JD Edwards)
  • Perform reconciliations of accounts payable and account receivable control accounts
  • Perform reconciliations of other general ledger accounts as assigned
  • Interdepartmental Transfers (IDT’s)
  • Print and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reports
  • Maintain monthly journal entry log and support binder.  Communicate if any standard journal entries are not prepared or backup support is missing/inadequate
  • Work closely with cash room personnel to ensure RTP transactions are properly accounted for:
  • Client and location closes are performed timely and properly
  • RTP cash and credit card transactions reconcile to bank deposit activity
  • RTP transactions are posted to ERP system
  • Support monthly process to review and analyze financial results
  • Support quarterly forecast process and annual budget process
  • Act as backup to the Payroll Coordinator for payroll functions as needed
  • Maintain procedure manuals for all major areas of responsibility
  • Assist other department during peak seasons as needed
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned.

The Staff Accountant is a participant and key promoter of this team environment in order to ensure all departments are properly staffed and able to provide excellent guest service.  All Bear Valley staff members are expected to participate in fulfilling positions on a temporary basis or as long as the service is needed. Other duties as assigned will include but not be limited to positions such as cashiering/sales, main office/administration, rental shop, any retail, any F& B, parking attendant, snow removal and lift operations. Prior to assuming any one of these positions, training will be provided to ensure proper job knowledge of each position.
